Description of project: Distribution and diversity of the Danish spider fauna. My M.Sc. project involved registration of Danish spiders in the collections of Zoological Museums of Copenhagen (Denmark) and Aarhus (Denmark). A checklist of Danish spiders was compiled, based on these 2 collections. The distribution of Danish spiders were examined using Worldmap and the estimates of 9 non-parametric estimators were calculated using EstimateS. Precision and bias of the estimators were calculated using a species-energy curve (sensu Wright) as a yardstick. The effect temporal and spatial resampling of data had on the estimates of five incidence based estimators were also examined. The project was supervised by Nikolaj Scharff & Carsten Rahbek.

Research interests: Faunistics and diversity patterns of Danish spiders.

Other information: Currently running Spiderweb, a Danish site about spiders, outlining their morphology and biology, as well as phylogeny and information about keeping and breeding mygalomorphs. Member of the Danish Entomology Society and "Exotiske Insekter" (society for keeping and breeding terrestrial arthropods). Taking part in the weekly work sessions at the arachnology section.
