It
requires a broad range of investigations to understand and describe a complex
organ like the jaw apparatus in Limnognathia maerski, which include the
use of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission
electron microscopy. These are quite different methods that produce different
kinds of results, and when these finally are summarized they can give an
overall idea about the organization of the jaws and provide a background for schematic
line drawings or 3-dimensional reconstructions of the jaws. Follow the links
below to read more about the different methods and the obtained results.
