Teaching period: Weeks 17-23 (incl.), 3x3 lectures per week; 63 hours in total

Form: Demonstrations and dissections of selected species combined with a presentation of the anatomy, embryology and biology of major groups; possibly one day of teaching at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Helsingør including the collection of material with the cutter ”Ophelia”

Goal: To provide students with a broad first-hand knowledge of the morphology and diversity of major invertebrate groups, put into a phylogenetic context.

 

Contents: Preliminary course schedule:

week 17: Introduction, Porifera, Cnidaria, Ctenophora (Ole Tendal)

week 18: Annelida, incl. Pogonophora, Echiura; Sipuncula (Danny Eibye-Jacobsen)

week 19: Mollusca (Andy Wanniger; Cephalopoda: Reinhardt Møbjerg Kristensen)

week 20: Arthropoda, incl Onychophora, Tardigrada (Jørgen Olesen; Jens Høeg)

week 21: Aschelminthes incl. Chaetognatha (Reinhardt Møbjerg Kristensen)

week 22: Platyhelminthes, Nemertini, parasites (Marianne Køie in Helsingør); Bryozoa, Phoronida, Brachiopoda, Entoprocta

week 23: Echinodermata, Hemichordata, Urochordata (Claus Nielsen)

week 25: Oral examinination with internal examiner
