Description of project:
“Collection of marine fauna using a suction sampler: The spatial and quantitative distribution of macrobenthos on hard bottom habitats near Gilleleje.“
This master thesis project partly describes the use of a new method (in Denmark) when sampling macrobenthos on hard bottom, and partly describes the spatial and quantitative distributional patterns of the macrobenthos collected: Samples were taken with a diver operated suction sampler, at the same depth, on three hard bottom localities (five stations; 30 samples), stretching from east to west of Gilleleje, North Zealand (Sjælland). Samples were sieved through a 1 mm mesh and the sediment in the samples was fractionated. All macrobenthos present in the samples will hopefully be determined to species level. The data will be analysed using PRIMER (Plymouth Routines in Multivariate Ecologial Research).
