Michael Køie Poulsen

Born: 25 august 1957.

Education: M.Sc. in Biology (zoology, biodiversity research) from University of Copenhagen, July 1992.

Employment: Senior Ecologist, Nordic Agency for Development and Ecology. BirdLife International (Research Officer) 1994-1997. BirdLife International/Flora and Fauna International (Expeditions Officer) 1993-1994.

Working languages: Danish, English, Bahasa Indonesia, (French, German, Spanish).
 

Research interests: Biogeography, ornithology, biodiversity conservation, development of locally-based biodiversity monitoring.

 

Fields of competence: The ecology and conservation status of tropical birds. Assessments of biological diversity. Locally-based biodiversity monitoring. Community-based natural resource management. Integration of local develop­ment and environmental issues. Participatory approaches to protected area management.

 

Extensive experience in project management, administration and team work. Experience as Chef Technical Adviser for natural resource management projects. Experience from several long research expeditions to Ecuador, the Philippines and the Moluccas (Indonesia). Experience with project planning, review and implementation obtained through assignments to international organisations and government authorities.
