Additional information
Widely distributed in Africa from Nigeria and Liberia in west to central Kenya and westernmost Tanzania in east. Fairly adaptable as found in both moist savanna, woodland and proper forest from sea level to 1800 m a.s.l.
It is a burrowing species that lives in holes or in soft grounds like sandy soil and leaf litter. On the surface only during the nighttime, especially after rainy days. Poisonous, but not aggressive.
