Gunung Jasar, TowerGunung Jasar, TowerMALAYSIA: Cameron Highlands, Gunung Jasar. Summit: 1696 m.

Gunung Jasar is easily reached by foot from Tanah Rata, and there was absolutely outstanding collecting on the top in 1994. The type series of Macronychia malayana Kurahashi & Pape was collected here, as well as the tachinid Prodegeeria thomasi Shima. Quite interestingly, none of the local species of subgenus Sarcorohdendorfia were encountered on the summit. Gunung Jasar (1696 m) was much better than the nearby and only slightly higher G. Beremban (1841 m), as vegetation on the summit of the latter is too high. The somewhat higher G. Brinchang (2032 m) has a telecommunications building on top, which makes collecting difficult.

Unfortunately, the summit of G. Jasar was stripped for its vegetation and a pylon for high voltage cables was placed on the very top in 2005, which is causing heavy erosion (right).

Visited by Thomas Pape in 1994.
Mount Greville, QueenslandAUSTRALIA: Queensland, Mount Greville.

Excellent collecting around a small heap of stones at the very top. Several species of Sarcophaga (Sarcorohdendorfia).

Visited by Greg Dahlem, Ashley Kirk-Spriggs, and Thomas Pape after the International Congress of Dipterology in 2002.
Mount Greville, QueenslandAUSTRALIA: Queensland, Mount Moffat. Summit: 1100 m. [25°03.6'S 148°02.6'E]

Several trees on the top means that many specimens are out of reach. Several species of Sarcophaga (Sarcorohdendorfia).

Visited by Thomas Pape and several other dipterists after the International Congress of Dipterology in 2002.
