I was born in Guilin, a famous city of southwest China. When I was a child, the beautiful sounds in
nature always absorbed me deeply, especially the music from all kinds of insect.
In 1993, I began to study in Nanjing Agricultural University. During my university years, I became
increasingly interested in entomology, particularly in synanthropic insects. As a basis of other
entomology research, taxonomy became my most important university course and I enjoyed it very much.
Since I graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University, I have taken part in
Exit-Entry Shanghai Inspection & Quarantine Bureau as a quarantine officer.
In Shanghai, I met Prof. Fan Zi-de and Chen Zi-zi, who gave me more knowledge on calyptrate flies,
especially in the taxonomy and ecology of Sarcophagidae, Anthomyiidae, Calliphoridae and Muscidae.
Here, I wish to express my gratitude for their great help!
Serving as a quarantine officer, I check different specimens of calyptrate flies, which are transported by ship,
airplane, containers or cargoes, from all over the world, such as Europe, Asia, Australia, America or Africa.
At the same time, there is an investigation of calyptrate flies in different native port areas of China.
So, many flies are received from any other port every day. Currently, I work in the vector biology laboratory,
Shanghai Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Sometimes I go to the field to collect calyptrate flies.
Recently, I am focussing my interest in the phylogeny and barcoding of the calyptrate flies.
Thanks to Prof. T. Pape for offering this communication opportunity in this website.
I am looking forward to keep contact with all colleagues.
