My first experience on Sarcophagidae was during my B.Sc. course in Biology when I started in the Lab of
Diptera - Sarcophagidae at the Museu Nacional/UFRJ as an undergraduate trainee under the advisement of
Dr Cátia Mello-Patiu. My undergraduate monograph was a comparative study on male terminalia morphology of
four species of Oxysarcodexia. Since then, I became increasingly interested in Sarcophagidae and I have
worked on systematics of Sarcophagidae, mainly in Neotropical fauna.
In 2009, I completed my MSc studies on the systematics of Lepidodexia (Notochaetisca) at
Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro / UFRJ. Currently, I develop the PhD project, in the same institution,
with a cladistic study of Lepidodexia. At the same time, I keep studying other genera of Neotropical flesh flies.
