I first began to study Sarcophagidae because of my interest in forensic entomology.
After a short training at Dr. Cátia Mello-Patiu's Lab, in Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro,
my main interest changed and flesh flies, with their interesting morphology, became my focus.
In my Master's degree I created a pictorial key for species of forensic importance
in southern Brazil, a place with great diversity of species. My curiosity about the group
was growing and I decided to expand my study and add the morphology of immature stages
to my research, searching characters for future systematic analysis and identification.
Currently, the focus of my PhD research is the morphology of females and the larvae of
species that breed in corpses in southern Brazil, as well as the study of the biology and
behavior of different species through chemical ecology.
