World of Flesh Flies
Ingrid Eliana Buenaventura Ruiz

I have been very interested in insects, particularly carrion flies, since I started my studies in Biology, and my first project was a taxonomic identification of the Diptera in rabbit corpses successions in Bogotá - Colombia.

I am interested in Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae, and in 2005 I developed a software to identify blow flies and flesh flies of forensic importance in Colombia. The software has keys, photos, and some information about the geographical distribution of this fauna.

I have been revising the principal entomological collections in Colombia to identify and conduct curatorial work. Later, I worked for the Laboratory of Forensic Entomology of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

I continue my interest in Sarcophagidae. The Neotropical Region has a high diversity of Sarcophaginae, and I want to contribute to provide better knowledge on the group. For this reason I am working on a revision of the genus Peckia.
