I was born in Panama City, Republic of Panama, and since 1981 I have been an instructor in Biology
at the Department of Zoology, University of Panama. Previous work experience include:
Entomologist for the US Army Directorate of Engineering & Housing, Environmental Branch (Corazal, Panama);
instructor in Biology at the Florida State University, Panama Branch, and St. Mary's University, Panama.
While doing work for a PhD at the University of Mexico, I held a temporary position of research assistant
at the Museum of Natural History, Mexico City.
While working for the US Army, I was responsible for a pest management program and developed an interest
in flies. I worked on Calliphoridae, especially the newly introduced genus Chrysomya in Panama,
and I got acquainted with Dr Bernhard Greenberg, University of Chicago, who brought me in contact
with Dr Thomas Pape, who at the time was working at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
Since then, I have collaborated with Dr Pape in studying Panamanian Sarcophagidae.
