My scientific contact with flies started in 1994, when I began the faunistic research on blow flies,
flesh flies and tachinid flies in northern Poland under the supervison of prof. Agnieszka Draber-Monko.
Later, thanks to the gained field and laboratory experience, I got a possibility to begin work on the
morphology and taxonomy of the preimaginal stages of blow flies from the genera
Bellardia, Onesia and Pollenia. In 2003 I did my PhD on immatures of
Pollenia (cluster flies), and I have continued my focus on the preimaginal stages
but broadened the taxonomic scope to include flesh flies as well as additional genera of blow flies.
Recent work on Miltogramminae first instars (with Thomas Pape) has revealed a remarkable morphological diversity.
