Examples of what recoveries of birds ringed in Denmark have shown

Long-distance recoveries
Most recoveries of birds ringed in Denmark are recovered from Europe, but sometimes there are single birds from other parts of the world. See some examples.
Shelduck Tadorna tadorna
In July and August large flocks of shelducks gather in the Wadden Sea, which is an important moulting area for a large part of the north-west European population. The shelduck’s wintering area is, besides the German part of the Wadden Sea, the English Channel area and the Atlantic coast of France.
Shoveler Anas clypeata
Denmark is passed by shovelers migrating from Sweden, Finland, the Baltic countries and Russia. From Denmark, they move further southwest - a few going all the way to Senegal in west Africa.
Marsh harrier Circus aeruginosus
The Danish marsh harriers migrate south-west and the migration route goes directly from Denmark through central France and Spain. Some Danish marsh harriers leave Europe via Gibraltar to Africa.
Woodpigeon Columba palumbus
Some of the Danish woodpigeons are migrants, and outside the breeding season the birds are found in a rather narrow strip from Denmark through north-west Germany, Holland and Belgium to southern France.
Linnet Carduelis cannabina
The direction of the linnet’s autumn migration is strictly between south-west and south-south-west. 95% of all recoveries are within a 400 km wide band through Holland, Belgium, France and Spain.
